Title: Why Protect the Social Work Title?
Date/Time: Tuesday, February 13th, 12:00-1:30pm
Location: Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave., Room 201, Westport CT
“Why Protect the Social Work Title?” is a workshop being offered at all NASW Regional Network Meetings in Connecticut. During this workshop, NASW/CT’s Executive Director, Stephen A. Wanczyk-Karp, LMSW, will cover everything you need to know about Social Work Title Protection!
We have entered an important season -the 2019 Legislative Session (January to June). NASW/CT introduced a bill into the state legislature for Social Work Title Protection; H.B. 5755: An Act Providing Title Protection To Individuals With A Degree In Social Work. Participants of this workshop will learn about the significance of Title Protection: (a) inform on how enactment will protect our clients from receiving sub-standard services; (b) educate on how the misuse and misrepresentation of the social work title impacts us all; (c) notify as to the number of ways protecting the title will benefit social workers and the profession itself; (d) alert to NASW/CT advocacy efforts, regulatory recourse, and how you can support this initiative.
Approved for 1.5 CECs by NASW/CT:
Meetings are free and open to all disciplines.
If CECs are desired, the cost is: Members $10 / Non-Members $25
*Regions are for convenience. Please feel free to attend any regional meeting throughout the state regardless of your home address.
