Each year the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), releases new, updated, or deleted codes for the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM). The updates to the mental and behavioral section of the ICD-10-CM began October 1, 2017 and are listed below in the order that they appear in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). Clinical social workers should use the new codes to avoid reimbursement denials.
