THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY: HOW DO WE RESPOND?

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

6:30-8:30PM

Sacred Heart University, Martire Business & Communications Center, Fairfield

This town hall meeting is the third in a series of Town Hall Meetings held by the NASW/CT Clinical Social Work Network. For this Town Hall we ask the question:

“If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?” Hillel the Elder (c.60BC-10 AD)

In the present political climate and with all social work constituencies threatened we invite social workers to come together for an evening of discussion and support. The time is now for direct practice clinicians to focus on empowering ourselves and our clients.

This is an opportunity to hear from people in the profession address some of the questions many clinical social workers are asking. It will also be a time for us to engage with other social workers. We will tackle specific issues around how to support our clients, including managing the inevitable countertransference reactions from witnessing our clients struggling to make sense of the recent election results. Come and share your questions and thoughts, as well as discover our commonality toward deepening our resolve for the work that is yet to come.

Our panel of speakers will include: Mayor of New Haven, Toni Harp; Dr. Jo Nol, LCSW, Private Practitioner; Dr. Pat Carl-Stannard, LCSW, Private Practitioner and Faculty, Sacred Heart University; Dr. Bronwyn Cross-Denny, LCSW, Chair, Social Work Department, Sacred Heart University.

Wraps and beverages will be served. Approved for 2 CECs for LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC and Licensed Psychologists.

Cost: NASW members $10. Non-Members $20. Students Free.

Registration deadline January 17th however registration by January 9th is encouraged as the caterer needs advance notice. Specific directions and parking information will be forwarded to registrants.

This program is presented by the NASW/CT Clinical Social Workers Network and co-sponsored by Sacred Heart University, Social Work Department.
