Title:  “Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis and Management”

Date:  December 11, 2019, 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Presented by:  Dr. Carol Weitzman

Location:  Westport Town Hall, Room 201, 110 Myrtle Ave, Westport, CT 06880

Social workers and other clinicians often work with children with ASD and their parents to manage challenging and interfering behaviors.  Knowing about the diagnosis and management of ASD will help social workers gain greater familiarity with this disorder and be more effective in their work.  After attending this program, social workers will learn to use the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria in order to differentiate ASD from other neurodevelopmental disorders, understand the fundamentals of an appropriate work-up, the role of genetics and how psychopharmacologic agents can help in the management of ASD.

This program has been approved for 1.5 CECs by NASW/CT.  This program meets the Cultural Competency requirement for social work license renewal.

This program is free and open to all disciplines.  If CECs are desired, the cost is $10.00 for members, $25.00 for non-members.
