“Practice Dilemmas in Clinical Social Work with Difficult to Serve Patients in Hospital Settings” will be presented by Edith Snyderman, LCSW on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Westport Town Hall,  110 Myrtle Ave, Westport, CT 06880.

Practice dilemmas often occur in hospital settings when professionals need to take steps that will end in unwelcoming alternatives for their patients.  This is particularly true in cases where the patient’s decision-making ability is questioned by the clinician, however, that individual has not been deemed to lack capacity to make their own medical decisions.  In clinical settings, social workers encounter issues where practice dilemmas inevitably lead to conflicts between self-determination/patient best interest and the practitioner’s own moral integrity.  This presentation enhances the clinicians understanding of how to balance the complexities between the clinician’s own moral integrity and the painful issues and judgments that can result in life changing outcomes for those that are served.
