“A Journey” Musical One-Woman Show Written and Performed by Kimberly Wilson will be presented at Quinnipiac University, 370 Bassett Road, North Haven, CT 06518.

This event will commence with a performance by Kimberly Wilson who portrays the struggles and influence of black womanhood through seven women’s stories. Through movement, character transformations, and deeply spiritual singing, Ms. Wilson emulates the “African Queen”, the “Slave Woman”, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, and finishes with her personal journey. Throughout her character transformations Ms. Wilson includes joyful celebrations and painful reflections to artistically tell a shared story of the persistence and courage of black women.

Following her performance Ms. Wilson will engage in a talk-back with the audience and then three practicing social work professionals will partake in an interactive panel discussion to connect the performance to social work practice.
