Understanding Internet and Technology Addiction is the next workshop organized by NASW’s Region III Network. This workshop offers valuable information for us all since we live in a fast-paced world of technology. Accessing the Internet and utilizing Social Media has become part of our activities of daily living. Social workers, and all others, who are intrigued by the correlation between technology and addictive behaviors will find this workshop advantageous.

This workshop will begin with an overview of the addictive characteristics linked to technology and the risk factors. Then, the workshop will narrow in on additive behaviors specifically connected to social media and video gaming through the internet, cell phones, tables and other technological devices.

Educational objectives include:

-Establishing a working definition of Internet and video game addiction

-Learning about evidence-based research and understanding psychosocial connections

-Applying guidelines to recognize warning signs and problematic use

-Discussion on how to support healthy adaptive use and combat overuse/addiction

Nadja Streiter, LMSW presents a fascinating workshop!
