Title:  How Attachment Mediates Depression in Young Adults

How Attachment Mediates Depression in Young Adults is a workshop organized by NASW Region II Network This workshop addresses the link between early attachment relationships and mood disturbances later in life, which often emerge in young adulthood. During this workshop the presenter will discuss personally performed research- just published! In addition, attendees will understand the framework for underlying relational dynamics correlated with mood disorders. Implications will also be applied to clinical work and treatment.

Educational objectives include:

-Defining of ‘Differentiation of Self’

-Review of Attachment Theory and attachment styles

-Understanding the framework for underlying relational dynamics

-Learning risk, protective factors and developmental tasks

Heather Monaghan Simon, MS has earned a Master of Arts degree in Health Psychology form Central Connecticut State University and previously earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Heather is currently a Research Assistant at Yale University School of Medicine, Child Study Center. She also has in depth experience as a direct service provider.
