NASW/CT is actively lobbying at the Legislature for social workers. The chapter testified in favor of a bill that would make it a class C felony to threaten or harm a protective services social worker and called upon the Legislature to expand to the bill to other state social workers and social workers employed under state contracts. NASW/CT also testified in favor of expansion of licensure to new marital & family therapists and professional counselors in order to assure a qualified workforce and to protect consumers. Testimony was also presented on maintaining the funding for the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women. The Chapter is active is several coalitions that are working on protecting funding for human services, health, mental health, and education programs that serve vulnerable populations.
