The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 30-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness. We aim to to treat people with mental illness in their communities, to provide a place for researchers from many fields to find new treatments, and to teach professionals in the care of mental illness.

We are currently recruiting for a qualified and experienced Spanish Speaking Clinical Social Worker Associate. The reporting location is the Hispanic Clinic at 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT. This position is 1st shift, full time, 35 hours per week, with a work schedule of 9AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday. The position number is 26683.

Since its inception in 1973, the Clinic has served the mental health and addiction needs of the monolingual Latino/a community of the greater New Haven area by providing culturally appropriate and recovery oriented services. We are committed to fostering an environment of wellness, empowerment, professionalism and collaboration. Our staff is bilingual/bicultural and representative of the diversity of the Latino cultures. Clients are self referred or referred by a variety of health and human service agencies in the community.

Discover the opportunity to:
Participate as an active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team;
Provide care for monolingual Hispanic adults with serious mental illness, often with co-morbid medical and substance use disorders;
Utilize interviewing and assessment skills to gather developmental, social, clinical, and legal history for the purpose of evaluation, treatment, and disposition planning for assigned clients;
Serve as an active member of the Hispanic Clinic Leadership Team;
Supervise staff of a lower class.
