Pamela L. Filip, LCSW/Certified FamilyTherapist/Certified IMAGO relationship therapist

Specializations

Addictions, Adults, Anxiety, Caregiver Stress, Couples, Depression, LGBTQ Issues, Psychiatric - DSM

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1988, having graduated from George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1985. In 1994, I received my Family Therapy Certification from the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City. I furthered my training in 2007 when I became a Certified IMAGO Therapist with the International Association of Imago Therapy.

I worked for the Veterans Health Administration for 31 years, retiring in 2016. Initially my primary area of expertise was substance abuse, then more specifically the treatment of Dually Diagnosed Veterans. I also provided couples treatment at the VA and ran a Couples and Family Education group. In July of 2007, I was awarded the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Social Work at the Yale School of Medicine. I utilized my Professorship to teach Psychiatry residents family therapy until I left the VA.

Additionally, I have maintained a Private Practice for the last 22 years, only recently closing my practice. Here I worked with a broad range of mental health diagnoses, serving individuals, couples and families.

I have had the privilege of studying and working with some of the most influential couple and family therapists of our time, including Peggy Papp, Peggy Penn, Olga Silverstein, Pat Love, Maya Kollman and have assisted Dr. Harville Hendricks (Author of “Getting the Love You Want” and founder of IMAGO relationship therapy) with couples’ workshops.

Throughout my career I have enjoyed the guidance and experience of great mentors and supervisors. I look forward to sharing my education, experience and insight with you.
