Melissa Hoon, LCSW

County: Hartford, Middlesex
Specialties: Adolescents, Adults, Anxiety, Depression, Disabilities, Families, Stress Management
Description of current practice:

My approach in supervision is collaborative and supportive. Your professional development and therapeutic competence are the key to your growth as a social worker.

Your needs as a clinician are unique and my approach to clinical supervision is to tailor our work based on your needs, goals and priorities to ensure you get the most out of our supervision experience.

My goal is to help you become an intuitive and clinically sound therapist. It is important that you not only have a theoretical understanding to support your interventions, but also feel confident in making ethical decisions in your practice. In doing so, my responsibilities as supervisor are twofold:
To help you become aware of your strengths and reinforce them.
To help you identify your “growing edges,” which are areas you have yet to cultivate.

I hope to be able to provide a safe space for you not only to share your “wins” in therapy, but the safety to be able to make mistakes and learn and grow from those challenges.

I specialize in working with individuals with Autism and developmental disabilities, neurodiversity, depression, anxiety and trauma. I provide my clients with individual, family and group therapy. .The modalities I utilize vary depending on the clients needs, often using CBT, DBT, trauma-informed practices, Solution Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and somatic interventions to support clients on their healing journey. Although my interventions vary, the part that is always consistent is the therapist/client connection, as the relationship is key to healing.
